On Earth Day (Jour de la Terre) TEA & partner organization Furniture Bank organized a housewares drive to keep valuable household goods out of our landfill and into the hands of people in need. ICI Ontario, part of Radio-Canada (Télé), interviewed one of the event volunteers.

Afin de souligner la journée de la terre, la Furniture Bank de Toronto et la Toronto Environmental Alliance ont accepté les dons à la place Nathan Phillips. L'un des buts de cette pratique est d'éviter que les meubles usagés se retrouvent dans les dépotoirs. Les meubles sont ensuite remis à des familles dans le besoin. Shirley Germain est bénévole depuis plus d'un an.

English Translation:

In order to highlight Earth day, the Furniture Bank of Toronto and the Toronto Environmental Alliance accepted donations at Nathan Phillips. One of the aims of this practice is to prevent usable furniture from ending up in the dump. The furniture is then given to families in need. Shirley Germain has been a volunteer for over a year.
