The prime farmland in the Greenbelt provides us with fresh food. TEA advocates preserving farmland and supports local farmers by promoting the purchase of locally grown food.
TEA has campaigned for Local Food by
- Leading a Local and Sustainable Food Purchasing Campaign aimed at changing local government policies to prioritize purchasing Greenbelt-grown food.
- Developing a "Greenbelt Food from Home” guide to connect Toronto's diverse communities with grocery retailers selling cultural foods grown by farmers in the Greenbelt. (Launched October, 2007)
- Publishing Food Guides for locally grown, culturally specific foods (Fall 2009)
