Highland Creek Treatment Plant Biosolids Consultation

SCARBOROUGH RESIDENTS - TAKE ACTION AND SAY NO TO TWO NEW SEWAGE INCINERATORS AT HIGHLAND CREEK!

The Highland Creek Treatment Plant is the only remaining sewage incinerator in Toronto and not only is it a major polluter in Scarborough, it is one of the top polluters in our entire city. Despite the results of a recent city-funded health report and air quality impact study that show the dangers of burning sewage waste, the City of Toronto is proposing replacing the existing incinerator with two new incinerators.

There are better options to deal with biosolids (sewage waste) that are better for our local air quality and the environment, while treating waste as a renewable resource that gets recycled into beneficial uses like fertilizer and soil conditioners.

The City of Toronto is looking for input from local residents. Submit your written comments by Friday, January 15th**. Additionally, comments can be made by phone by calling 416-392-4688 and leaving a voice message.

Submit your written comments by email using the email tool below. You can edit the text of the email and add your additional comments in the text box.

** The original deadline was set as Thursday, December 3rd. TEA & Councillor Paul Ainslie advocated that the air quality study should be released to the public before closing the comment period. We successfully extended deadline for written and phone comments to January 15th. **
