Greenbelt Campaigner

The Toronto Environmental Alliance is seeking a Greenbelt Campaigner. As part of the TEA campaign team, the campaigner will promote Toronto-based policies and programs that support, secure and potentially expand the Greenbelt surrounding the Greater Toronto Area.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a campaign aimed at influencing the City of Toronto to adopt policies that support, secure and potentially expand the Greenbelt.
  • Work with diverse stakeholders in and around the Greenbelt to support campaign goals.
  • Coordinate an advisory group made up of Greenbelt stakeholders.



Qualifications:
  • Experience in developing and managing successful campaigns;
  • Experience working with multi-sectoral partners;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Media relations experience;
  • Experience working in Toronto;
  • Understanding of the public policy process at the municipal, provincial and federal levels;
  • Knowledge of local food systems and food procurement;
  • Experience in environmental public policy, in particular existing environmental laws and regulations;
  • Energetic and innovative.

This is a full-time position beginning no later than June 2, 2008. Compensation will be based on the skills, experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
