Maya Menezes, Development Director

Maya is the newest member of the TEA-m. She steps into the role of Development Director having worked in donor engagement, fundraising and digital campaigns for the past eight years.

Maya has helped build long-term fundraising strategies for international aid, environmental and local organizations from face to face to digital outreach. Her fundraising has taken her on campaigns across Canada and the US, from Vancouver Island, Seattle and LA to Boston. New York and Toronto. 

Maya has also worked on climate justice organizing in Toronto on issues of refugee and migrant rights and as a board member for a number of local environmental groups. Most recently, Maya was in Morocco, Marrakesh in November 2016 for the 22nd UN Climate Conference. There, she represented Canadian Youth at the climate negotiations on issues of equity, justice, and climate finance. 
A data nerd to the core, Maya is keen to bring new forms of outreach and engagement strategy to TEA's development team. She is a passionate fundraising campaigner, compassionate social justice advocate and most importantly, believes in a greener city for all. 
Maya is an alumnus of the University of Toronto, where she studied Environmental Science, Food Security, and Social Justice Equity. She also facilitates grassroots community organizing workshops with the Institute for Change Leaders at Ryerson Universty.
