TEA's Greener City Celebration

On Tuesday, December 4th, join the Toronto Environmental Alliance for an evening of celebration, engaging speakers, good humour and local heroes.  

Every December, hundreds of Toronto’s environmental leaders, activists, politicians and media come together for a night of celebration in support of TEA’s work advocating for a greener city for all.

This year, TEA launches The Greener City Celebration hosted by comedian Nile Seguin.

HOSTED BY COMEDIAN NILE SEGUIN 

Nile Séguin is an award-winning stand-up comedian, writer and actor. With appearances on People of Earth and The Expanse, Nile is best known as Alister on the City TV sitcom Second Jen. Nile has performed at the Just for Laughs Festival, San Francisco Sketchfest and the Boston Comedy Festival. A three-time Canadian Comedy Award nominee, Nile has written for Comedy Network’s The Beaverton and the Gemini Award-winning The Hour (where he was a regular on-air contributor). He was also nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for his writing on CBC’s Still Standing.


Keynote speaker: Rosemarie Powell

Rosemarie Powell is a passionate advocate for social, economic and environmental justice. She has led for over 20 years from the grassroots up, managing and developing several innovative and impactful community programs and services to support under-represented group’s access to the labour market. Her community engagement work in Jane Finch earned several awards for leadership and imagination. Rosemarie is currently the Executive Director of the Toronto Community Benefits Network (TCBN), a community-labour coalition with a membership base of over 95 groups and organizations across Toronto. TCBN negotiate jobs and opportunities into major infrastructure and urban development projects for historically disadvantaged communities and equity-seeking groups.


Some of the fun you can expect on December 4th:

  • Bill Glenn will return with his "21 Shopping Days Until Christmas" - a holiday gift list of the best corporate greenwashing toys and gadgets (an audience favourite at TEA's end of year party)! 
  • TEA will announce the recipient of the 2nd annual “Greener City for All Award,” which is presented to a local hero that has demonstrated innovation in making Toronto a green, equitable and sustainable city.   • A silent auction featuring great local products and experiences.

All funds raised by the Greener City Celebration will go towards TEA’s local campaigns on climate change, waste and pollution.
