CouncilWatch - Why TEA deserves your vote

September 5, 2013

As summer comes to a close and a new school year begins, TEA is saying good-bye to eight amazing summer students and blushing from an award nomination!

We put the TEA in Teacher

This summer, TEA had a team of dedicated students reaching out in Etobicoke, Scarborough and downtown. They attended community events, ran workshops, knocked on doors & so much more.

Their work has introduced TEA to hundreds of new members and community groups. Thank you to all the volunteers and community partners we worked with, especially Montgomery's Inn and Council of Agencies Serving South Asians. Check out our photo album!

"I enjoyed doing presentations and directly engaging community members on environmental issues they feel are affecting their lives. It was also really great to learn about the structures of City Hall in depth, so we can continue on mobilizing our communities once this internship is over."  - Ayan Mohamed

We would like to thank our students for their hard work and dedication to TEA this summer. Watch out Toronto, these are our future movers and shakers!

Vote for us!

TEA has been nominated as Toronto's Best Enviro Group in NOW Magazine's Best of 2013 series. We need your help to mark TEA's 25th anniversary with this special award.

We are honoured to be listed among national nominees, all of which our alliance has worked with for decades. What sets TEA apart from other groups is that we are a homegrown non-profit that devotes 100% of our time to Toronto's pressing environmental issues.

Vote for TEA before the polls close!

Be air aware

Don't be fooled by cooler weather! Toronto's air poses health risks all year round. Check the Air Quality Health Index in your district daily.

Help clean the air at home & on the road!

25 years of TEA

In Sept. 2006, the Province agreed to a deposit-return program for LCBO containers - after a decade long TEA campaign! (photo circa 2001)

Kids in B.C. return milk jugs & pop bottles for money. Why not here in Ontario?
