Community Right to Know E-Bulletin (June 2008)

Help us uncover the dirt.

Hello TEA Members,

Does your neighbourhood experience any of the following?

*    persistent chemical odours
*    suspicious dumping or storing of unknown substances
*    visible stack emissions
*    employee health and safety concerns
*    acute respiratory and/or allergic reactions

If so, we need your input to start off our precedent setting Toronto Good Neighbour Campaign.

As part of our goal to reduce toxic pollution, the Toronto Environmental Alliance will be working with community participants in Toronto, Sarnia/Lambton, and the Akwesasne First Nation in Cornwall to develop community-led “Good Neighbour Campaigns” (GNC).

These campaigns will be based on the successful GNC model, developed by Ohio Citizen Action in the U.S., which has achieved community agreements with local industries to reduce and prevent pollution, independent of legal and regulatory routes. *

Let’s work together to reduce pollution in our neighbourhoods.

Thank you for your time!
