Toronto transit riders should be spared any further fare increases uintil 2010, as part of the city's pledge to combat smog, the Toronto Environmental Alliance said yesterday. The Watchdog group gave city council a C-plus grade for its smog-fighting efforts in 2007, including adoption of a new climate change policy and a plan for an extended network of light-rail transit.
The group urged councillors to commit funds int he 2008 budget to implement the climate change policy and expandthe city's bike network.
