TAKE ACTION: Tell City Hall to Protect Toronto Tenants from Extreme Heat

Toronto is getting hotter. And we need to make sure that Toronto tenants are safe during extreme heat events.

That’s why TEA has come together with our allies to call for a maximum temperature by-law to make sure landlords provide adequate indoor cooling.

We also need quicker, shorter-term measures to protect Toronto tenants - particularly those made most vulnerable - like ensuring every apartment building has a cooling room and free TTC rides during extreme heat days.

Experience in cities across North America shows that some of the most dangerous places during extreme heat events are indoors, often in hot rental apartments.

Indoor cooling is no longer a luxury. We need rules to ensure that vulnerable tenants are safe in their own homes during heat waves.

Use this tool to send a personalized message to your City Councillor and tell them that we need to protect heat vulnerable tenants this summer.
