As Toronto looks to address climate change and improve resiliency, local communities need to be engaged in developing solutions that serve community priorities. TEA collaborated with Enviromentum and the Toronto Community Benefits Network to explore the role community hubs can have in local climate actions.

“While the government calls this a Made-In-Ontario Environment Plan, we see it more as a 'Not-Our-Problem' climate plan," said TEA's Climate Change Campaigner Dusha Sritharan.

And this is what we heard back.

TEA was one of the few environmental groups accepted to appear before the Standing Committee on General Government to address concerns about Bill 4. The Bill would dismantle the cap and trade program and repeal Ontario Climate Change Action Plan. The committee also soliciting ideas and insights to help inform the development of a new climate action plan.

Toronto’s Executive Committee just requested $2.5 million in the 2018 City Budget to fund the TransformTO climate action plan. But this still falls $4.5 million short of what is needed in 2018. Today, Toronto’s Executive Committee put forward a request for $2.5 million in the 2018 City Budget to fund the TransformTO climate action plan. But even with $2.5 million in funding, Toronto is still falling short on funding climate action.
