Located in Scarborough, 430 Mayfair on the Green has over 1000 residents, but it only generates one dumpster of garbage per month! This building is reducing, reusing, recycling and composting over 80% of their waste.

Every year Toronto residents put roughly 1 million tonnes of “waste” out for the city to collect. Just under half is disposed in landfill, and 53% is diverted from landfill and sent for recycling or composting in the Blue Box and Green Bin. At the Toronto Environmental Alliance, we started wondering – why is our diversion rate so low?
