Victory for the Environment!
On Tuesday, January 17th, a majority of City Councillors voted to stop proposed cuts to key environmental services in the 2012 City Budget.
None of this would have happened without our supporters contacting their Councillors and making it clear environmental services are a priority.

Cuts mean Worse Air Quality, Less Action on Climate Change
On Monday November 28th, the Mayor released his 2012 budget. Our environment will suffer as air quality gets worse and as Toronto's ability to deal with climate change is reduced. Learn more.
TEA staff spoke to the Budget Committee on December 7 & 8th, along with nearly 350 other Torontonians, about the impacts of service cuts on the environment and our society.

Success! 2012 Waste & Water Budgets
On November 29th, City Council approved the Toronto Water and Waste rate budgets.
Fortunately, Councillors voted to keep 44 Community Environment Days, and rejected the proposal to subsidize water rates for companies that break the City's pollution regulations.
The proposed budgets were recommended by the Mayor's Executive Committee and included program cuts and weakening of standards that would have harmed the environment.

Environmental services are up for major cuts at City Hall. Councillors are hearing from the Mayor's Consultants on how to cut costs at City Hall, and unfortunately, environmental programs and services are on the chopping block.
