Five things Toronto residents said they want from the 2024 city budget

"During the budget committee’s review and cross-examination of city agencies last week, it was clear Toronto was far from being on track to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040.

Emmay Mah, executive director of the Toronto Environmental Alliance, said climate strategy “cannot be treated as a special project the city can resource with piecemeal funding.”

Given the tragedies of the B.C. heat dome in 2021, Mah said the city cannot let that happen in Toronto."
