The Zero Waste High-Rise Project

RESOURCES AND TOOLS: Creating zero-waste high-rises

The Toronto Environmental Alliance (TEA) has worked with and studied residential high-rise buildings as they reduce waste, increase recycling and increase composting. We’ve seen that buildings have cut their waste, created stronger communities, improved their buildings, and saved money.

Now, we're sharing what we’ve learned to help more Toronto high-rises become zero-waste buildings. Check out our library of tools, resources, guides and stories! These were created as part of our Zero Waste High-Rise Project.

Online tools and forms

We created a step-by-step pathway to help high-rises residents and staff assess their building’s opportunities and move towards zero waste. Whether you are a resident or staff at a high-rise building, you can work through the pathway at your own pace. You may also choose to just use one or two of the forms.
