TEA Plastics Advocacy Training & Action Planning

THIS TRAINING IS NOW FULL. PLEASE EMAIL [email protected] IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE ON THE WAITLIST IF A SPOT OPENS UP.

Frustrated with plastic pollution and the confusing, misleading and over-the-top packaging that is plaguing our waste system? Do you want to see our governments act on plastic pollution and hold companies accountable for the disposable products and packaging they create?

Join us on Wednesday, July 4th for a training and action planning session all about plastics, advocacy and community action!

In July, Toronto’s Public Works and Infrastructure Committee (PWIC) will be considering how to act on plastics and they are considering actions like bans and fees. But with well-funded lobbyists pushing back, we need to mobilize and be louder than the lobbyists. We’re hosting an advocacy training session to help community members push this issue forward with our decision makers.

In this training, we'll talk about our campaign and approach, what Toronto can do (and what other cities have done), and how you can advocate. We’ll also be planning creative campaign tactics to highlight local plastic pollution and the urgency to act on single-use plastics.

TEA Plastics Advocacy Training & Action Planning

Wednesday, July 4th

6:30 pm to 8:30 pm

The TEA office (30 Duncan Street, Suite B1)

Agenda:

  • 6:30 pm to 7:45 pm: Presentation and Q & A with TEA’s Waste Campaigner Emily Alfred
  • 7:45 pm: Break out sessions
    • Session 1: action planning
