While City Council was set to vote on Toronto’s new climate strategy at their May meeting, the vote has been deferred until July 5th. 

With long days and a packed agenda, several items were deferred from the May City Council agenda. Many were disappointed to not see a vote on TransformTO, a transformative new climate strategy for Toronto. However, TEA will be working with allies over the next month to engage Councillors and ensure that when the vote comes back, that Council makes the right decision.

In the weeks leading up to the May City Council meeting, we collected hundreds of letters in support of TransformTO. With your letters of support in hand, we went to Councillors to share why TransformTO could have positive impacts for Toronto, not only for greenhouse gas reduction but for jobs, health, and equity.

All letters sent before the May 24th Council meetings have been delivered in email and in paper copy. We’ll keep collecting letters until TransformTO comes back to Council on July 5th.
