Earlier today, Councillors on the City's Parks and Environment Committee made history by establishing the city's first Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Subcommittee to focus on what Toronto can do to get the city ready for climate change.
Councillor Gord Perks was appointed Chair. He will be joined by Councillors Joe Cressy, Sarah Doucette, and Mike Layton.
The Sub-committee will hold its first meeting on March 2nd and "report back on its terms of reference, which are to include a review of City policies, expert advice and international best practices to mitigate and adapt to climate change."
This is great news for Torontonians and is the first sign that the new City Council is ready to tackle climate change!
What You Can Do:
- Attend the first meeting and let the Sub-Committee know what you want Council to work on.
- Read more about the Sub-Committee on the City website.
