We need answers from the Province about the Etobicoke chemical spill

TEA and our allies sent a letter to the Ontario Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks asking for answers about the Etobicoke chemical spill.

Below you can read a joint letter from Environmental Defence, Toronto Environmental Alliance, Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment, Women's Healthy Environments Network, and others regarding the tragic chemical spill into Mimico and Humber Creeks last month.

Nearly a month ago, on August 11, 2023 a disastrous fire at the Brenntag Canada facility located in Etobicoke resulted in a devastating toxic spill into both Mimico and Humber Creek. Wildlife has died, and pets swimming in the waters have been injured as a result of the spill. Further the Province announced it would take until the end of October to clean up the spill.

We called on the Province for more transparency on the issue, further investigation in the fire and the subsequent spill, and to expedite the clean up.
