Council Watch - Your Letters, Saving Transit Expansion and Happy Holidays from TEA!

TEA delivers 2000 letters to Councillors asking for a green Toronto

Last Tuesday, Santa Claus helped us deliver almost 2000 letters to City Hall as part of our "Help us Keep Council Green" campaign. These letters ask that the newly elected Councillors keep the environmental commitments they made during the election, work to ensure the environment is a priority over the next term of council and to fight to save the Transit City Light Rail plan.

Over the next four years, we will be working hard to keep the environment on the agenda and to be your environmental watch dog at City Hall.

Check out our media release - "Santa Makes Special Delivery to Toronto Councillors"media coverage and photos from the event.

Help save Transit City: our modern, rapid light rail transit plan

Mayor Ford has made it clear that he does not support the Transit City plan.  He favours a plan that seeks to extend a subway line linking Shepard Station to Scarborough Town Centre.  This new plan dramatically reduces the amount of new transit in the city, will halt construction work already underway, squanders hundreds of millions of dollars and disadvantages hundreds of thousands of Torontonians.

It is extremely important to let our elected leaders know that the people of Toronto want and deserve accessible transit.

Happy holidays from your friends at TEA!

For over 21 years, TEA has been campaigning locally to find solutions to Toronto's urban environmental problems.

We at TEA want to wish all our friends out there a safe and happy holiday season, and a green and prosperous 2011!
