TORONTO- Today, the Low-Income Energy Network (LIEN) called on the provincial government to introduce province-wide energy conservation and bill assistance programs for low-income households in response to the announcement of higher prices for electricity.

As electricity rates increase, a growing number of the hundreds of thousands of low-income households in Ontario are at risk of losing their homes this winter. The Low-Income Energy Network (LIEN) has designed an energy conservation program to protect low-income consumers from unaffordable energy bills this heating season.

TORONTO - The Toronto Environmental Alliance and the Canadian Environmental Law Association released a report today with key recommendations on a strategy for low income energy and assistance, including consumer protection policies, an energy rebate program and a comprehensive set of energy efficiency programs.
