Springing into climate action

Cities around the world are stepping forward to lead the fight against climate change. Now more than ever, it is crucial for Toronto to commit to ambitious climate actions to reduce our emissions and build a more sustainable and resilient city.

Two years ago, the City began the process for developing a transformative new climate action plan. Through the TransformTO process, they engaged more than 2000 residents and community leaders through public consultation events, community conversations, and online surveys.

Throughout this time, TEA has been actively engaging with the City and our supporters to help shape this robust new plan. Hundreds of TEA supporters have helped along the way by signing petitions to support funding for climate action, attending community events, and by speaking with Councillors.

Now, the City is finally getting ready to unveil the new long-term climate change action plan that hopes to transform our city.  The new plan will chart the course for the actions we need to take to achieve an 80% reduction in our emissions by 2050.

On April 27th, the plan goes live for the public to read, before heading to the Parks and Environment Committee and City Council to vote on. The City will be hosting two webinars where you can learn more about the new climate plan.

There will be many ways to get engaged and support climate action this Spring.

On May 2nd, TEA along with the Toronto Climate Action Network will be hosting an Information Night. Join us for a presentation from the TransformTO team that will outline the new plan, followed by an opportunity to ask questions. You'll have the chance to learn more about the City's plans on renewable energy, public transit and much more.
